Michele’s 29er: Rocker Chainstays
I'm back to building bikes and I've resumed work on Michele's 29er, I silver brazed the Paragon Rocker dropouts and mitered the chainstays into position, ready for welding.

TIG welder pulse settings for steel
Today I played with the welder pulse settings to minimize heat, stabilize the weld pool and improve the weld aesthetics. It took quite a few pratise tubes but I reached something that works well for me, if anyone finds it useful, here it is: I use ER70S-2 welding wire in 0.035" or 0.045", a tungsten of 1/16" sharpened to a 2-3mm point, the ceramic cup is size 6, Argon flow set to 11-12 CFH. Amps: 65-80A - Pulse: 1.2-1.4 Hz, 40% peak time, 20% background amp.

Aujourd'hui j'ai testé différents réglages de pulsation du poste a souder pour minimiser la chaleur, stabiliser le bain de soudure et améliorer l’esthétique des soudures. Après maints essais, voilà les réglages qui fonctionnent le mieux pour moi: fil ER70S-2 en 1mm ou 1.2mm, tungstène de 1.6mm taillé avec une pointe de 2-3mm, embout céramique taille 6, débit Argon entre 5 et 6 L/min. Intensité: 65-80A - Pulse: 1.2-1.4Hz, 40% en pic, 20% courant de fond.
New year hacking
I finally found a little time to try out something I had in mind for a while. I turned a small Schaublin lathe into an abrasive tube grinder using an aluminium beam, a modified steel fork, a rotating cross-table and an Anvil main tube mitring jig. It works well and the nice thing is that I can modify the speeds using the lathe gear pulleys, that way I can adjust the belt speed to the diameters or the material (Titanium, stainless or steel). J'ai finalement trouvé un peu de temps pour essayer un truc qui me trottait dans la tête depuis un certain temps. J'ai transformé un petit tour Schaublin en grugeur de tube abrasif en utilisant une poutre en Alu, une fourche acier modifiée, une table croisée rotative et un gabarit Anvil. Ça fonctionne bien et l'avantage c'est de pouvoir utiliser la plage de vitesses du tour et adapter la vitesse aux diamètres et aux matériaux (acier, Inox ou Titane). Ça donne ça:
