Build your own frame jig
Below is a recipe for building a frame jig out of Alu profiles. You can order the various parts pre-cut, ready for assembly from this Austrian supplier, that's 90% of the jig done, all that's missing are 3 cones (1 for seat tube and 2 for head tube), a bottom bracket post and a rear axle (which you can get from Paragon Machine Works). Soon I'll post the recipe for building a combined chainstay/seatstay mitering jig...
Voila une recette pour fabriquer un gabarit de cade en profiles alu. Vous pouvez commander les différentes pièces pré-coupées et prêtes a assembler de ce fournisseur Autrichien, c'est 90% du gabarit, tout ce qui manque c'est 3 cônes (1 pour le tube de selle, 2 pour la douille de direction), un plot de boîtier et un axe arrière (dispo chez Paragon Machine Works ). Dans un prochain billet, je publierai la liste pour fabriquer un gabarit de découpe bases/haubans...

Back to the Roots
It's nearly been a year since I built a frame, so when a friend asked me if I had time to do a Titanium road/gravel frame for him, I couldn't say no and since I started with welding Titanium at UBI back in 2008, it felt even more right that I should restart with Titanium :-) During my year off (changing diapers and night feeding), I had time to think about my building process and it's helped me reconsider a few things, I'm testing a new building sequence for this frame and it works great. Below are some pics to document it, you never know, it might be another year before I build the next one...
Cela fait bientôt un an que je n'ai pas fait de cadre, alors quand un pote m'a demandé si j'avais le temps de lui faire un cadre en titane route/gravel, j'ai pas pu dire non, comme en plus le titane c'est mon point de départ a l'UBI en 2008, je me devais de reprendre par du titane :-) Pendant cette année de pause (a changer des couches et donner des biberons la nuit), j'ai eu le temps de reconsidérer ma façon de fabriquer des cadres. J'ai testé ces nouvelles idées avec ce cadre et je suis content du résultat. Voilà des images pour documenter le tout, on sait jamais, le prochain cadre ne viendra peut-être que dans un an...
